When choosing surgical scissors medical and laparoscopic needle holders for surgery, you need to consider the following key points.

What procedures are you running? Published research papers usually indicate which instruments have been used by other researchers for similar procedures. Also, surgical instruments specific to specific procedures will have an impact on the results of the technology.

What is the volume of your treatment object? For 200 – 300g rats (about 22 – 25cm long), the ideal instrument may not be the best choice for newborn mice about 15g (about 1-2.5cm long).

How often is the instrument used? If you do more than 100 cuts a day, you need to consider using a pair of titanium medical suture scissors or a pair of angled scissors medical with tungsten carbide blades, which can stay sharp for a long time.

Types of Surgical Instruments

Most of the surgical instruments can be used for general surgery in a laboratory environment, which can be roughly classified by function as follows.

Cutting tools include disposable surgical scissors, surgical blades, knives, and scalpels.

Grasping tools include hemostatic Hartmann aural forceps and tissue forceps.

In addition to surgical instruments, we have many accessories available, including large towel clips, precision vascular clips, bulldog clips, drills, sutures, binocular magnifiers, and biopsy perforators.

Cutting Tools

Scissors are a cutting tool in which the two blades are connected at a pivot point so that sharp edges slide against each other to cut the material between the blades. Keep in mind the following tips when choosing the right surgical bandage scissors.

1) Fine pointed scissors are ideal for use in small spaces and are often used in ophthalmic surgery where fine tissue cutting is required. By using these sharp blades, you can cut quickly and accurately with minimal damage to tissue.

2) When you want to avoid cutting the lower tissue, curved scissors medical are a good choice.

3) The length of the tips of the scissors should match the depth of the cut you need to make.

4) Scissors made of heavier construction can be used to cut fur, thicker tissue, bones, and muscles.

5) The gauze scissors consist of a sharp blade and a micro-serrated blade. Sharp edges allow clean cutting with minimal damage to tissue, while serrated edges hold the tissue to prevent you from sliding while cutting.

6) Scissors with a tungsten carbide blade shall have a gold handle. Tungsten carbide instruments are more durable and have longer edge and service life than stainless steel medical scissors.

7) Spring scissors are designed for neurosurgery, vascular, microsurgery, and ophthalmology.

8) Although they are not as hard as diamonds, sapphire blades can be used in microsurgery, anatomy, and related applications. Sapphire blades have ultra-sharp cutting edges, so they can be cut with minimal pressure without tearing or damaging the sample. The blade is corrosion-free and can be used with stainless steel or titanium alloy handle, which can endure 200 ℃ high-temperature sterilization.
